What book are you reading now?
Bookworm Wrote:The Silmarillion, by Tolkien. I've used this more or less as a reference book for years, never actually 'read' it cover to cover before.

I read it once - and once was enough! Disoriented

I finished The Silmarillion and was about to delve straight into Unfinished Tales, but I think I need a break from Tolkien and the epic history of Middle Earth.
I don't know what to read now; most of the books on my 'too read' pile are humongous hardback tomes! Maybe I should relent and buy a Kindle...

Yes, I definitely think you should buy a kindle, or do like I did, and download it to your ipad/iphone/etc. I have found so many great books on there - a lot from indie authors, one of which I personally met, and the guy lets me read his books for free! (But I still bought them all anyway.) You can go to the meet the authors forums, and search blogs, and they're always having free giveaways of all kinds of books on Amazon. You can also get a lot of major titles for the kindle too, though sadly not too many textbooks Undecided

I've just finished Cambridge Binoculars by Euan Spiegel. It's a look into the academic intrigues of Cambridge in the thirties with a cunning twist and refreshingly nary a mention of Burgess or Maclean. Much recommended, I'm looking out for his next.

"The tale of Genji".

So far I'm not sure what I think. It's definitely interesting since it's often cited as the first psychological novel ever, which is even more remarkable since it was written by a woman. Although so far it's been nothing but promiscuous adventures, poems and conversations about women. It's still fascinating because of its age but unless it starts getting a bit more intriguing I'll probably drop it since it's more than 1000 pages long o:
