Well, I do love Capetian France so so much....but I prefer XII century France in the form of the mighty Philippe II Auguste, Richard Lionheart must still be ranting from his grave since the day Philippe took Chateau-Gaillard...and pretty much the rest of Normandie from England...

I also idolize Phillipe IV le Bel, the hardcore Roi de Fer...who else might have had the guts to take down the Templars?...

Curiously enough the French Iron King produced one of the finest Plantagenets to have worn the crown of England in the form of the wise Edward III...oh, the irony: one of the best French monarchs ever, produced one of France's most dangerous enemies..hehe

I'm not saying all of these out of mere commenting

I'm currently reading all 7 books of "Les Rois maudites" and I'm finishing number 5 "The She-Wolf of France" as Edward II is being ousted by Isabella and Mortimer and soon I'll start "The Lily and the Lion" which will cover the extinguishment of the direct Capetian line with the death of Charles IV and the subsequent outburst of the Hundred Years War when Edward III makes his claim to the throne of France and xenophobic French give it to Philippe VI du Valois instead.....

I tell you if you haven't read them, DO SO! they are so so good.
