What book are you reading now?

Anna Karenina, taking me much longer than I'd like, but 70 pages in and it is still excellent.

Huh I only got about half way through before giving up on Tolstoy.
Really great book but godamn is it long winded.

My mind and interests are scattered, tbh. I jump from "1984" to "Catch 22" xD That's what I like. "Catcher in the Rye", "King Rat", "East of Eden"... Pretty diffrent books, imo, and I like them all so much. I want to read books like these, you know, as people say - Life changing. Thought provoking. Problem is, that english is my second language and I have some problems understanding some of the books xD

P.S. I have Sōseki on my "to read" list

I have read Soseki's Kokoro, and I liked it. It was a well above average book. But it wasn't so much in the story as in its writing style and presentation where its value lay. Soseki is a poet.

Of Japanese lit, I'd also recommend to check out Kenzaburo Oe's The Silent Cry. I loved it. It's really different and, again, not about story so much, but about the development and involvement of the psychological and emotional perspective.


I could recommend a dozen more books, but they're not fiction, but science/gay-themed/history/poetry/classics/etc.

I find this guy fascinating and I want to know what he has to say on the topic (which is also very interesting). He's a poet, actor and writer (he starred in the Spike Lee film Inside Man among other things).
