I've been reading quite a lot.

Stephen Kings Desperation, Stephanie Meyers The Host, Sergei Lukyanenko: Night watch, Day Watch, Twilight Watch, Last Watch. Darren Shans Cirque Du Freak (I haven't been able to get my hands on the second book so I can continue.)

I'll probably read The Stand by Stephen King when I go to the Library tomorrow.

Just finished "At My Mothers Knee - And Other Low Joints" by Paul O' Grady (AKA Lilly Savage). Hilarious, as expected and highly recommended.

"Londonistan" How Britain has created a terror state within." - Melanie Phillips. Very dry, aimed at academics and Daily Mail readers! Zzzzzzzzzzzz.

"Mad For It - Psychotherapy" by Auntie Vig With 50 free flash cards of dead puppies to show to clients who refuse to get in touch with their emotional side.

"Auntie Vig's Big Book Of Crazy" With Free pad of sectioning forms.

Just read "The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ", by Philip Pullman. Almost plausible ...

Gone back to tackle a bit more John French's biography of Captain Beefheart. Damn, this book could do with some serious editing. I really hope that not all eight hundred-plus pages are going to read like a cut-up tape recorder transcript. :eek: Drumbo may be a fab drummer/arranger/singer, but so far ... well just so far ...

I'm currently reading:

Such is my Beloved by Morley Callaghan, a depression era Canadian novel about a priest obsessed with saving two prostitutes. It is fairly didactic and reflects Callaghan's Christian Socialist roots, a so-so read, but I'm not thrilled with it.

Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinberg, classic coming of age story about a butch lesbian. I've only just started so I'll withhold any judgments, but it's supposed to be good.

Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M. Coetzee, this is about a magistrate of an imperial outpost at the edges of a nameless empire who has a crisis of conscience. A profound and beautiful, yet stark, novel by the great South African author. I just love this book.

I've also been reading a lot of poetry.

Aha, forgot about this thread. Finished the Beefheart biog. Interesting, but far too long. Just finished another Iain Banks, "The Steep Approach to Garbadale". I so enjoy his work and this is definitely one of his best. Currently reading "The Velvet Rage". If Colin hasn't already started one I may start a thread on it. Just bought my friend, Jim's new book, The Mormon Delusion Vol 4.

I'm reading a historical account of the battle of waterloo. I'm not entirely sure why i'm reading it, but it's actually quite interesting :-)
