Lately it's been a lot of Parliament/Funkadelic, Sly & the Family Stone, James Brown, Yo La Tengo, My Bloody Valentine, Miles Davis, Monk, Coltrane, King Crimson, Mahavishnu Orchestra, some early 70's Yes, Led Zep, early Meat Puppets, Animal Collective, Tune-yards, CCR, Steely Dan, Eno, Flaming Lips, The Cure, David Bowie, Neil Young, the Dead, Talking Heads, early Television, later Talk Talk albums, mid-to-late 60's Beach Boys, and can't go wrong with some Beatles, Pink Floyd or Jimi. I've been dabbling in a bit more hip hop and different electronic genres too, but it's slow going and there's soooooo much out there.
It´s a French shoegaze/black-metal band that only released one EP, a split and one FL album before splitting up. And this is by far one of my favorites songs:
I usually listen to a lot of details metal, classic rock and even gangster rap, and hip hop. But for the past year, I've been on a electro house, dubstep, trance hands up and so on. So at the moment my absolute favorite musician right now is Deadmau5. I like skrillex, noisia, electrixx too though
Jethro Tull
Bob Dylan
Pink Floyd
James Taylor
Jimi Hendrix
Bauhaus
Siouxie and the Banshees
Rush
The Beatles
King Crimson
REM
Gordon Lightfoot
Frank Zappa
....Those are just the favorites off the top of my head. I enjoy most music however, except for rap and hip hop - I detest and loathe rap and hip hop with a fiery passion. Aside from that, I like most everything, but my favorites are progressive rock and folk rock.
I could list a million bands but I'll shorten the list a little bit to ten. In no particular order...
Porcupine Tree (and everything else Steven Wilson does)
Scissor Sisters
Opeth
The Zutons
Frank Zappa
Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
capsule (I'll never get tired of "STEREO WORXXX")
Flogging Molly
Under The Influence Of Giants
