Cool Parents.

I have to disagree with the people saying this is insensitive and the approach is wrong. The father is making it a non-issue and setting it up so that his son isn't put into the uncomfortable position of bring confronted with this face-to-face. I loved it and wish people would take this approach with me

Just my opinion though. Smile

I agree. I might also add that six years old is a little early to start having this type of conversation with a child. It's my opinion that the father watched his son grow into the man that he is today, and wanted to convey his respect for whatever his son chose. But that's just my opinion.

Yeah, imagine the relief to find a note from your dad saying that not only does he know your innermost secrets but he found them out by eavesdropping on your phone calls and that also he can't be arsed to man up and discuss this face to face, so here's a note. Your dinner's in the oven.

That's a fair point cardigan but I think your perception of the tone of the note and my perception of it are just opposite. And that's fine, not a big deal. I don't think the father was intentionally eavesdropping but maybe he was, we may never know.

I totally agree with Rob. I have read - on this site alone - the angst that the majority of people have, about coming out to their parents.

When a parent helps smooth the way, then why not celebrate that? From where I sit this father loves his son and that's just what he did - smooth the way. It's called good parenting.

If we want equality we need to be ready to accept it when it comes.

Love it
When Jess came out to me, and I said I have known since you were 8 years old, he gave me the biggest hug ever.
