ya i read it. Apparently his son came out as gay and he choose to support his son. I can fully accept his actions as the first republican for gay marriage.

story:
last year locally the Republican Speaker for the Senate blocked the domestic partner ship bill. He personally made it not even come up for a vote.
-a lot of lgbt money was put into the opposing Democratic party this year form a few sources. The new elections effectively made the state level House and Senate with a Democratic majority. the partnership bill passed, along with some gun legislation and improved drug laws. The original Speaker is not in office currently
-the House Speaker's son was gay and managed to get on local TV. It was bad.
-this year, with the new Democratic majority in both houses, the bill was passed quickly. Un like last year the new bill did not exclude religious organizations. (for example you would not be able to visit your partner if he was in a catholic hospital) Republicans objected to that but were told they should have voted for last years bill.
