How I lost 6 kgs (really proud of myself!)
#1
Two words: Personal Trainer.

I hired a PT in January 2013 and have lost 6 kgs (12 lbs, I believe) ever since. I started with 81 kgs (I'm 1,74m tall, so I was technically obese) and now I weigh 75 kgs. It's not spectacular but it's good and I'm really proud of myself.

I wish I had done it sooner. Here are some of the benefits of a PT:

1 - Motivation: There's no such thing as 'I don't feel like going to the gym this morning' You paid for it, you simply HAVE to go or you'll be throwing your hard-earned money out the window.

2 - Knowing what to do: only a professional knows for sure what exercises are right for you. Spending x hours in the gym is not enough and some exercises can actually do more harm than good.

3 - Doing it the right way: Once you know what the right exercises are, you need to do them the right way and, again, you're going to need an extra pair of eyes to help you with this.

Yes, it's expensive but it's worth every cent. The real waste of money would be to spend less and see zero results.

I'm not on a strict diet but I have taken some extra precautions when it comes to food: no sodas, no junk food, no fruit juices, less carbs.

You may have a point about doing what's right and not just spending time at the gym to achieve nothing.

Don't think it's something I'd spend money on, but I'd always recommend other people to spend money on what makes them happy. It looks like it's done that for you.

Don't undersell yourself, 6 Kilos is more than 13lbs.

I think the amazing thing about a PT (My stepmom is a PT so I know how they work and she trains me from time to time when I'm in Pennsylvania) Is simply the motivation, they don't let you give up no matter how much you want to, and since I'm such a passive person I usually am not one to argue back.
The motivation is great. Smile

I don't know lots about it, but I would be careful...6kg in 3 months seems a lot to me.
After you finish your training that would be stupid to take back those extra pounds lost. Big Grin
That's why I'm sceptic.

I might be wrong (and I hope so) though ! :p

Good luck!

I'd never get on with a PT.

I know I'd be more than happy to throw my money away by not turning up so a irritatingly good looking person can "encourage" me to exercise by telling me how easy it is, and how good I'm doing in a patronising manner in front of a load of strangers.
To be blunt, I think I'd rather die of a heart attack.

Sorry, guess I'm having one of my off days.
Congrats!
