ukip wins in kent

Ukip - united kingdom independant party has won 17 seats in kent, now the second largest party. I am not politicaly minded but do take interest in drips and drabs.
Now ukip are against european union and the euro?
against immigration?
described as far-right, libertarisms?
associated by some with racism etc?
Although they describe themselves as an anti-racist party?

Just looking to here views and know more.
There leader seems very charismatic.

Libertarian but opposed to gay marriage. Described gay adoption as "child abuse" and "a violation of a child's human rights" (despite having policy which would get rid of human rights legislation). The party has since withdrawn these statements but seem to have no coherent policy, just frequent disowning of their members who say outrageous things.

And to cap it all, Farage is accused of saying 'we will never win the nigger vote. The nig-nogs will never vote for us.', by a former party leader (who abandoned the party he created because it was fast filling up with racists).

At least now they've got some local seats they'll get some scrutiny. The kind of scrutiny which did for the BNP, who won a lot of council seats a couple of years back and now have none.

Yes disown anybody who is heard "publicly" but its quite obvious the sort of individuals its liable to attract. And Farage seems in some confusion if he wants to influence the government, or be the government, oh well, what will happen will happen.

Oh i see yes, now they have the seats, they can be more scrutinized, made to work with other partys not just thereselves. Theres talk on them trying to turn the (already) right leaning members of other partys and influencing them.

I have a sneaking suspicion though, that ed milliband will be running this country before long
