I was raised in a religious family as well. My parents are Catholic and my being gay was always a big problem for them. I was told every day how wrong it is to be gay. I just didn't pay attention to them. I just knew that God doesn't make mistakes and He made me who I am for a reason. Now I've a boyfriend and I'm happy with him. God wants you to be happy, you shouldn't condemn yourself to the life of loneliness.

I understand that it all stems from the "father wound." Like the need for the protection of a father while at the same time suffering for an overbearing mother. I grew up not being so close to my dad, he was like just there, not interfering, not giving attention, so instead you seek for something to fill this void like seeking other men, in my case, porn, brief models, admirable heroes etc. It's a very complicated thing. I'm in a gay friendly church btw.

Several of my current friends are in some organised religion, and one thing I know from them is that they don't really accept me being gay, but they do accept me as a person. So, I'm happy with that. I personally haven't had a good experience with religious people.. But I do know there are people out there that are very open and nice!
