Nothing wrong with being bothered by those elements, however dismissing it as simply everyone there making a spectacle of themselves sounds like buying into the lies about it. There are many elements and reasons for gay pride, and the reasons you cite are just one of many, and those elements are present in other parades and marches as well. Be it a gay pride parade or Mardi Gras I'd just shrug off the parts I don't like (so therefore wouldn't be baggage to me). I would never feel compelled to take part in what I feel uncomfortable with (and I tend to have a sense of humor about it), and by that it means I focus on what I like, ignore what I don't, which means I could ignore at least most of those being a freak and still have a good time focusing on everyone else.
And if Mardi Gras offends you for all the people letting their freak flag fly then by all means stay away, but don't say everyone who goes is simply there as part of some symbolic (literal?) orgy or whatever as that's false.
