Africa Kills Rainbows
#11
Hi Jude

Sheesh, that's really bad. and very grim about your mom. I would be extriemely cautious about who I came out to especially family members.. That is terrible

I was thinking about our little exchange yesterday, (which by the way was just me having a rant at our violent crime rate, and not intended to diminish your countries homophobic stance) and I brought up the phenomenon of "correctional rape", which as you know black lesbians are gang raped to "correct" their thinking / that once they have experienced sex with a man they will then only want sex with a man.

Is it an African cultural thing? does this happen frequently in other parts of the world (other than Africa)?

I seem to think that reports of this are mostly in the rural areas, but I may be wrong.

Yes, I would also be very cautious of leaving any breadcrumbs trailing back to me such as browser history and so forth....

Keep up the smiles and WOW your postings are well constructed... You are definitely not a product of our failed "outcomes based education experiment"

If you ever get here you must look me up Cool

Regards

Haha why thank you trialbyerror. Not all of us fall into the terrible stereotype that most Foreigners expect of the articulation Africans have haha.

It's funny this morning I actually was thinking about correctional rape and I actually looked it up. Like how you suspect, it actually began in Africa, YOUR country to be more specific (no offense intended). You seem at a pretty old age ( you probably went through Apartheid), so do you recall the case of the banyana banyana Player? (I forgot her name) but I think she was the FIRST ever example of correctional rape cases in not only South Africa, but the whole world. And as you suspect again, this poor woman was raped in a Gauteng village- which was of course extremely rural.

Haha as I said, I'm 16. It would be awful strange for a teenager to ask their mother if she could drive him to a 55 year old mans house he met on the Internet. (Especially with a mother like mine) But thanks for the invitation Smile haha

Thank you TKC. As I said, I really enjoy your posts and replies.

Well I'm using a mobile device and I have Google Chrome installed, so I use the *incognito setting? Where every website you go to does not get recorded anywhere? Thanks for the advice Smile

because i'm very very doubtful that she was the first victim of corrective rape in the world . it was happening a lot before then ...

Ahhhh
It all be a matter of how you present it you see.....

Tell her I'm Rich, Famous & am offering employment

Just don't tell her

How rich, (poor as a mouse)
That I'm only famous because I'm a duck
And what type of employment.....

Just kidding, no what I meant was that if you are in JHB look me up (just to say hello face to face, nothing else implied or meant)

Apartheid / previous regime (up to de Klerk)
search a posting I did, use Basie Smidt as your search engine that will tell you volumes

the term "corrective / correctional rape" started to be used around that time , but it wasn't the first case . and then you've got to take into account all the many , many , many unreported cases that happen ...

anyway . you're welcome Smile

Thank you for sharing your story Jude. I'm so sorry for your mother's reaction.

I myself don't plan to come out to my parents due to them being religious, but I've never tried to get an image of what might be their reaction if I do come out,but needless to say,it won't be pretty.

But hey,we have friends who are just as close as our family members but more tolerant to our sexuality, that's enough for me. Baer
