As I said in the other Bond post, I like Moore because he brought some underlying farce to the character. It made the whole thing a bit more believable for me, that he wasnt so perfect as to always get it right all the time (Bond that is, not Moore).

Suave' with a bit of silly.

Whatever he did, he did it on purpose, and it worked.

I see what you're saying, but for me Bond had to be nastier than Moore ever could be, that's why I went for Connery. Lazenby wasn't the first, he didn't come along until 1969:
