I love romances that deal with well-developed characters and sex in a free and realistic way rather than exciting the audience with two attractive people going at it softly to maintain a PG-13. The cook, the thief, his wife and her lover with Helen Mirren is a great example! Admittedly the main focus is not on romance but it's there. I can't stand romances that idealize everything.

I want either ridiculously sweet and idealised romance, or raw, in-your face, real life film representations.
Gone with the Wind. Oh my god that was the best movie ever.

my favourite movies used to be ghost, pretty woman, dirty dancing, the bodyguard, yeah those old cliches.
Not long ago i cried at the end of "you got mail" the bit where tom hanks comes round the corner and meg ryan realises it was him all along! omg i cracked! Sad, very sad! Not in that way!

If I want a cry then i put The Notebook on. But I also love The Vow.
Most of the time I just put any romcom on and i'm happy~

I hate it admit it, but I do love me some Romance films.
The newer ones that are out nowadays like any book
made into movies by Nicholas Sparks, I watch them but
I always end up either bawling my eyes out cause it's just
so sad or yelling at my screen cause it's so sappy.
I definitely like the old ones. I remember my mom would watch
'The Sound of Music' without fail every New Years, it's not really
a romantic film, but it has it's parts.
But on top of my head an old romantic film that I watched
cause we had on VHS was 'Somewhere in Time' with Christopher Reid.
I kind of wish they'd remake it, but then again the 'Time Travelers Wife'
is kind of on the same theme..
I guess you can say, I like Bittersweet-Romantic-Films.

To date, "Morgan" is my favorite because it dares to have a main lead who is handicapped.

I have no idea why, but Hilary Duff movies are still my guilty pleasures.

I'm all over the map. "How to Murder Your Wife" with Jack Lemmon summed up everything I felt was wrong with being married to a woman in a humorous way, but still had a great romance.
Going more modern, I like "Just Like Heaven" and "Definitely, Maybe".
Kudos to the mention of "Time Traveler's Wife" and "Gone With the Wind" too.
