Contrary to the popular P.R. campaigns that paint the USA as a civilized country, well its just not that civilized.
It is a self deluded 'Free Market Capitalist Representative 'Democracy' that pays lip service to the idea that its representatives represent 'The People'.
However the truth is that the representatives represent their own interests and the interests of Big Corporations first and foremost (which since most politicians have stakes in Big Corporations is actually just more self service).
The USA is further deluded by the propaganda that because it is the 'richest' (consumes far more than it needs) that it is magically 'better than' all other nations. While the USA does excel in the number of Nuclear Bombs it possesses and does excel every other nation in Military spending, all of the social programs and other sub structures of human society are ranked below many other nations.
While the USA is number one in the donation of 'free food' the reality is that that is more of a political land grab than a true act of human kindness, it gives leverage for the USA to exercise its political moves toward self serving interests in so called Third World Nations.
This goes hand in hand with the myth-conception that the USA is a Christian Country, since a majority of the population
claim to be Christian but rarely, if ever, actually practice Christ-like behaviors, such as feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, tending the sick.... If anything, the majority of 'Free Capitalists' who make a huge amount of money are so called 'Christians' and firmly believe that God has blessed them because they have managed to screw over the poor, the hungry, the sick in order to attain their selfish gain.
We are talking about a Nation that outspends every other nation on earth to maintain a military way to large and way too extended so the USA can keep taps on every corner of the earth. We are talking about a nation where a minority in leadership can through selfish acts and by misusing the constitutional tools the Founding Fathers gave it, force votes to go its way and even force the government into a shut down.
We are talking about the same nation that has more prisoners per capita than the Former Union of Soviet Socialist had and they were consider tyrants.

We are talking about a nation that starts wars over lies, that treats criminal behavior as if it is a war (9-11 was a crime, not an act of war). We are talking about a nation that thinks its perfectly ok to use radioactive rounds to fight civilians in a war torn part of the world, leaving behind so much radioactive debris that for generations the mutation rate will be extremely high leading to all manner of birth defects, early cancers leading to so many deaths.

We are talking about a nation that through its own greed lead the whole world astray to pursue financial 'instruments' that caused the economic collapse of the early 21st Century.
Civilized - Somalia, without a central government, with piracy and criminality skyrocketing through the roof is more civilized than the USA has been in a very, very long time.
