Optimism Vs Pessimism
#1
My 9000th post will be a bit of poetry. I wrote this many years ago and unfortunately I find that much of it still stands today... As time goes on nothing really changes I fear.

Optimism

The gods are quiet now. A peace of Sorts
Hangs over all the mien; a Twilight Time.
A host of lies, a little hate contorts,
The social fabric sports its dung and grime.
It’s not unlike the Roaring Twenties were,
Except some more expensive than was then.
The Corporate eccentrics still confer
To shun all blame and make all gain their ken.
The military zealots hold their sway.
The politicians take their “rightful” share.
The men in blue keep tucking men away.
The talented still show their virtue and flair.
Quite soon this twilight time will bow to night
The Sun will rise with World War Three in sight.

Pessimism

It well maybe the gods will come awake
And take a hand in things to put us right.
We’ll have a mighty Islam state,
The Chinese will buy up everything in sight.
A Christian Country will emerge at last
With laws to teach us what is right to hate.
Will outlaw gays and Jesus as in the past
But this time we’ll insure they meet their fate.
The Gods will stake their claims on planet earth,
Divide it up and rule their realms supreme.
No man will hold to wisdom or to worth
No man will strive not even dare to dream.
The laws of Gods enforced by man on all;
Amalgamated Earth, this Godly ball:

Somewhere between these two; a might have been,
Allures me to seek some other when.

Optimists are people who live believing everything has a bright outcome -
Therefore they are constantly disappointed.

Pessimists is a name given by Optimists, to those who see things as they really are - And know that the world is not the illusion Optimists think it is.

Pessimist - glass is half empty.
Optimist - glass is half full.
Realist - glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Funny but I find myself saying that an awful lot.

Optimist: "Either through force or charm, my country will conquer the world!"

Pessimist: "Sigh, it is only a matter of time until that enemy country conquers mine."

Realist: "Good grief, I want to be optimistic, but those two warring countries makes me think this entire planet is going to be consumed by a nuclear winter."

Optimists- People who see the good in everything and everyone and the Bad a temporary low. They have high hopes, but low expectations.

Pessimists- People who see all the bad and call it reality and the good a temporary high. They have Low Hopes but High Expectations.

My Momma always says; Zero Expectations = Zero Disappointments.

High Hope, just being a Coat, Low Hope, will sink your boat.

Zero Expectations = Zero Disappointments = Zero Caring and Concern for anything or anybody = Zero Affirmative Action = Zero Positive Effects
