No BMI is NOT a good indicator of health.
Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime on his off season weighed in between 260-290 pound and if I recall stood 6'1" - His BMI score would put him at obese - however all one would have to do is look at him and see that he was 'fit' - so fit he won competition after competition for his body. According to the scales - as a measure of weight, he was fat. According to the BMI charts and calculators he was obese. The only reliable measurement for over all fitness is the weight displacement method - it measures your body fat percentage. nobody says everyone must have a six pack but i do not think huge beer bellys are nice though i like cuddly guys with extra stuffing, what id call "big boned" or "padded out" , some people are just built that way

There is a lot of myth when it comes to diet/exercise/health/fitness and what is "average" for humans. There are myth-conceptions, Myth-understandings, and a lot of fantasy role playing games in the world... Um Porn....Advertisement... etc where only a few select individuals who are atypical of the human species are used as representatives of health, fitness, beauty. Some people are predisposed to have 6-pack abs, these are typically the same ones who can eat anything and everything and not gain and ounce of body fat. The average human being, however, is not so genetically predisposed. Average: and This are what 'average' and typical males are supposed to look like - mind, there are no popping 6-pack abs here. Nor are there massive arms, thighs, bulging necks, and shoulders that could hold up Mount Olympus. The images that predominate the threads of Daddy of the Day and Stud of the day are of atypical, abnormal examples of human males. The majority of them go to a gym, work out daily and have insufferable picky diets to maintain their body fat percentage low. Further, most of them are unfit for survival. Throw your average male (real average) and one of those 'studs of the day' into a real natural setting, the average male will endure more, last longer and outlive the 1.5% body fat muscle bound critter. One thing counting against our 'stud of the day' is the number of calories his body burns at rest Muscle burns hella calories, even when it isn't doing anything. The second is he lacks the alternative fuel source (body fat is fuel) and will immediately start devouring his own muscle and organs which have far fewer 'calories' than fat. He will exhaust rapidly, burn up his fuel reserves at an astonishing rate. Organ failure will take place sooner since his body is consuming unnecessary organs like lungs liver, spleen to keep the heart and brain running within nominal parameters. Does it really mean an ability to bench press 300 pounds, or does it mean how long you can survive in a natural setting being completely naked without the tools of a civilization that is roughly 10,000 years old? If its the ability to lift god awful amounts of weight in a society where food is abundant, then yeah they are fit. If it means surviving in the natural world with only the hands you are born with to live, then no popping abs, large muscles, all count against you.

I prefer my men a bit overweight, but not really obese. So I guess I don't need to feel threatened by people who are trying to eliminate obesity?

Well, actually, I'm an anti-obesity advocator and I prefer boys who are slim, normal or in some cases even chubby. Keep in mind that you have to be many kilos over your "ideal weight" to be classified as obese.

It doesn't really bother me, I don't need a 6 pac as I find the muscular build a slight turn off as much as I find the larger build a turn off, but neither of these builds define who a person is. Having said that, if I had to chose between an obese person and a person with a 6 pac, I would take the 6 pac because generally that person would care more about themself.

I personally like flat stomach or a bit of belly. Beer belly isn't that appealing to me. You don't need 6 packs to amaze me though, as long you have an interesting personality, I would want to date that person.
