The song is from a musical called Wicked where others along with myself believe Elphaba (or Elphie, later to become the Wicked Witch of the West) and Galinda (later Glinda out of memory of her Goat professor who couldn't pronounce her name right) have a relationship that's similar in tone to Daria and Quinn...at first there's a lot of animosity between these college roommates due to their differences but they slowly grow very close (there's even a lot of slash over it, that is fics of them as girlfriends) though as they get older events drive them to become bitter enemies and yet it's obvious they never stopped loving each other.

The book is much darker than the musical...Daria would much prefer the book. And from the book, both Elphie and Glinda are favorites of mine.
