Isn't South Africa still part of the British Commonwealth?

If so, you people "recognize" Aunty Lizzy as your Head of State too..

Now, BOW, INFIDEL, BOW, I SAY AND WORSHIP THE QUEEN LIKE YOUR GODDESS...

or I'll have your head chopped off and presented to her

And yet we haven't had a Sovereign who has been put on trial since Charles I (Stewart) in 1649.

Remind me again, when was the last time the USA impeached one of their presidents? Yes, I seem to recall it was Bill Clinton in 1998.

Her Majesty is above party politics and is highly respected in the UK and the Commonwealth of nations of which she is head of state.

Well, that's all very nice but the publics opinion, as you may well know, hardly accounts for what a government does, and SA is still part of the Commonwealth.

That's actually good since I heard there were plans to emulate the EU making a Union for the British Commonwealth.....and of course having Auntie Lizzy doesn't not mean anything...it hardly means anything within the UK, let alone anywhere else..

have you heard if such plans are taking place, duckie? About the BC Union? Or is it just bluff?

No, not much, except that the Prime Minister has an audience with the Queen every week in which issues within government are discussed. The Queen has three main rights. the right to be consulted, the right to advise and the right to warn. It would be a foolhardy Prime Minister who does not heed her advice!

Members of the Royal Family who wish to marry must first obtain the consent of the Sovereign and of course the Queen still has a direct role in legislation through the Privy Council. The Queen still has an important function in our modern democratic government.
