Emo
#21
Okay.. I'm gonna be the one to say it...

White people..

Are so cute as Emos ;3

What with y'alls floppy flappy straight hairs, light skin that you can apply black makeup to. ^•^

I've met a black goth tho, not quite the same T.T

Personally the darkest I ever go is like My Chemical Romance, and only a few songs. I just don't get the whole emo thing.

I'm emotional in like a flower power way, with all the rainbows and glitters, listening to my OneRepublic and island music. Not to mention I actually like to dance and not hang my hair and brood >•>

Wade Wrote:This is accurate. However, for whatever reason, the common American phrase is "like a broken record" when we mean "like a scratched record." It's the same logic that we use when we say "I could care less" when what we actually mean is "I couldn't care less."

... I don't know. We're kind of dumb, you know.

Well just agreeing with what you said geez!

(Yes I have my driving licence Sad )

The "American" use of broken in this instance, means that there is something wrong with the record that keeps it from working normally. And also, repeating oneself. Therefore, the record is broken, because it is not working correctly, and repeating itself.

Sorry, the teacher in me just surfaced.

The whole 'emo' thing has been rejected by me as somethingof a soft cock substitute for something that is real. It really irritates me that emo's aligned themselves with 'punk' when emo is so far from punk it isn't funny.

Oh! did you know that they have just invented a lawn that they call 'EMO'?

Yeah true, it's a lawn that cuts itself.

One of my best friends in highschool was EMO. His name was RJ and he was the craziest person I know but he was also the nicest to me.

Wade Wrote:I don't think "emo" people are any more emotional or prone to sadness than anyone else, it's just a fashion statement/music genre as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't bother me. On the right guy, the emo look can be pretty hot, I think. I've never had the guts to commit to any such fashion style though. I tried wearing a "The Beatles" black wristband once in High School and took endless amounts of shit for it. My face is too Howdy Doody for me to pull off anything like that.

Oh, but that's why you're a piano virtuoso instead, Wade..

you can turn that "Howdy Doody" face into a "Liszt-like-magyar-insanity" face in 2 seconds..

Thank you for your explainations.
Why being sorry? I'm partly here to learn about English Wink

Do you mean...

Emotionally hardcore as in, the style and music?

The misattriubution of emo to self harming?

Or simply self harming?

---

I'll choose the first, since it's the correct meaning. I am into emo music or the associated subculture.
