Best vacation spots

This thread will be divided by region-

Midwest (Any state above Missouri, Kentucky and Oklahoma)
South (Any state in or below that)
West (Any state that has rockies or is west of them)
Northeast (Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland up to Maine)

Here's some ground rules
1. Do not mention a vacation spot in the same region as the last poster to keep things interesting
2. Please avoid obvious picks (eg. Hollywood, Miami, Chicago, New York City)

Okay, I'll start off. Wisconsin's Apostle Islands on Lake Superior are spectacular, I hear. I want to go there.

In New Zealand, The Canterbury region and Banks peninsula is pretty damn good. There's a 2 day trek you can do that I can only assume is beautiful. I went on a boat trip.

Just thinking of places I've been to, Suzhou is like a ridiculously pretty city. It's like pure Eastern Chinese culture - tea, art, flowers and water. I even saw silk.
