And as always, this is nothing more than hypothesis and theory.

Hawking now thinks Black holes don't actually have an event horizon.
and the thing is, Southbiochem, do to the theory of how Black holes work, you wouldn't actually know you had crossed the event horizon. It would be, as Hawking says, an unremarkable event.
