Gays & Sports
#1
Why does it seem like gay guys are allergic to watching sports? Like other than baseball, I can't say that I follow sports a real lot, but like I can find enjoyment out of football and hockey.

But why does it seem like gay guys hate sports? Out of all my friends and all the guys I've ever dated, like maybe two actually liked sports. And most of them didn't just dislike sports or found them boring, they literally HATED the idea of watching sports.

Like I love baseball, love my Yankees and all. It's a two for one because I enjoyment following them and I get to watch a lot of hot guys too xD

Part of me has always really wanted, among other things, to just like sit back and relax with a boyfriend or husband and watch and game and get it to it. But like I don't think that's going to happen for me lol

Maybe so, but it's certainly a stereotype that's been proven time and time again. Like yeah, a lot of straight guys hate sports too. It's just a little frustrating never having that common interest with anyone.

Well, I can tell about myself- yes, I don't like to watch sports, I like to participate.

Parkour is a great sport. I wish to heaven that I could do it. But then I have never tried. But to me that is a real sport. Football? To many prissy self indulgent men flouncing around pretending to have accidents and hurt themselves.

I think it's usually about equal. There are gay men who like sports and straight men who don't. What throws off the balance is how culture enforces the idea that straight men are supposed to like sports. Many of them use that as the reason to "like" sports just to fit in with their peers, and sometimes even start enjoying sports because of that. Meanwhile, most gay men (not all) don't feel the same need to fit in with the same crowd. The gay men who do like sports usually like it because that's just their thing, instead of being pushed into it by their peers.

Anyway, I just never personally got involved in being a sports fan. I've enjoyed playing sports, but I never really give a damn about watching others play.

I don't like watching a game as much as I do participating in it.

I can get by with basketball, soccer and volleyball[lol]. Baseball.. not
so much and I find it so boring.

OMG!!! You mean thats something we are NOT pressured into liking....big, sweaty mens, rolling around on the ground, running after each other, grabbing each other, tackling each other, wearing skin tight outfits, and playing with each others balls?????????

I dont hate sports per say............I hate the politics behind them and the outrageous pay-scales for some guy just playing with a ball.

Men running around playing with a ball holds no interest for me at all. I actually find it extremely infantile. Although, once in a "blue moon" I do watch mens summer volleyball......but not for the sport. (if you know what I mean **wink, wink**)

Oh I used to be a fanatic when it came to Baseball. Maybe not shirtless, brightly colored by team colors in the dead of winter sort of fanatic, but a fanatic nonetheless.

Then the Baseball teams went on strike demanding unbelievable amounts of money which destroyed my fantasy that these guys played baseball for the love of the game ONLY and that being paid was an extra kudos.

I stopped buying sports related shit, Anything with a team logo I refuse to buy. I refuse to buy season tickets or even a single ticket. Instead I hang out in parks and watch the little boys playing softball in a kinda sorta creepy manner....

I am also more of a doer than a watcher when it comes to sports. I really, really liked playing football (American style, not that soccer crap). Something about being tackled and having a gang of sweaty, dirty grunting men piling up on top of one another was pretty satisfying to me . I also really, really liked baseball.

IDK, watching sports is sorta lame - Playing the game is where the real excitement and satisfaction lies - I think.
