That awkward moment you see coming when you're trying to organise a party and you have four great friends who have the most complex relationship.
Friend one gets along with friend three and doesn't know friend four but even though they are 'good friends' with friend two they secretly decline going to events where friend two will be as they find them 'depressing'.
Friend two fell out with everyone at Xmas because they felt left out of the group. We all made up but it's occasionally felt awkward since.
Friend three likes one and two but has had fallings out with three over someone they know and feels friend one doesn't like them. They don't like friend four who they've never met because friend four's cousin is the "mental ex" of friend three's boyfriend. They didn't come to a recent BBQ I held because they knew friend four would be there.
Friend four is a good friend to me and likes to keep the peace with everyone they meet. I think they'd feel a bit hurt if I didn't invite them.

It all sounds like something at school and I don't really understand it as I like getting along with everyone and just making up when things go wrong. Aargh.
