Stones
#1
I had thought to give my friend a gift of more than just hallmark quality. I'm originally from South Africa where the cash crops were gold and diamonds. I've had designed a very masculine ring that would hold a five carat square cut-the ring is made in eight flat slabs that curve, the stone would be at the top. The other thing i've considered is a large and somewhat rare solid gold Krugerrand. I think it's too soft to be a belf buckle so the alternative is as a pendant. What concerns me is that I've seen several similar to this but they were fakes. The ring may be considered to flashy but...I want him to have something that represents my past. What I don't want is for him to be pleased to receive it but...it lives in the bank. We are both in our 70s and if you have any other suggestons, I'm interested. Thanks! Charon

I have a few suggestions, however those are more pornographic in nature...

I don't know your friend, his tastes, and if for that matter if he wears jewelery at all. Does he have piercings? Or is that too heavy for that?

Does he wear ties? If so what about a tie pin... Cuff links used to be all the rage... does he need a pair?

Im not too sure, i think it is hard for us to decide since you want it to be something from YOUR past...see what im saying....try and go for something less of a cost/quality...and get something with more meaning
