Aubergine, brinjal or eggplant doesn't seem to agree with everyone's stomach. I have a few friends and family members who don't like the stuff. I quite like it, but it depends how it's cooked. Those recipes look scrumptious to me, Tinkles.

Sounds pretty much like the spanish word "berenjena", but appearently, it is the noun in Southern Asia, which has nothing in common...hum...interesting.

You were close, brinjal comes from the Portuguese word.

Remember Portugal had Macau, Timor Leste and what not as colonies in South East Asia
