I loves Lars von Trier and I just saw his latest movie, Nymphomaniac (vols 1 & 2). I loved every second of it.
The movie has 'good ol' Lars' written all over it': it's daring, shocking, funny and, above all, cynical.
And yes, there's a lot of sex in it but I didn't find it gratuitous or pornographic at all. In fact, it's quite the opposite. This is an anti-porn movie and its premise is quite clear: 'Love is the secret ingredient of sex'.
Despite the outrageous title, the real subject matter of Nymphomaniac is love and the desperate quest for it. Sex is the disease or, at best, an empty vessel.
And the talented Jamie Bell, one of my favorite bunnies, is in it, too!
