The combination of the blu cheese with the hot peppers and hot sauce is what makes it. The bacon and lettuce are just garnish.
But further, it's importand to get the seasonings down into the meat. This is what separates a good burger from a bad one. If you just sprinkle it on the top, you're just eating a lot of bland, tasteless meat. Worse yet are certain restaurant burgers that aren't seasoned at all, just having liberal applications of condiments.
