Don't assume I'm putting the blame all on one side. I'm pointing out that people have by and large chosen a side, and neither side is listening to the other. I'm a believer when it comes to the constitution. I want it protected and upheld. At the same time, we have these huge problems that aren't going away.
Maybe you can't legislate our problems away. And I sure as hell would have loved the government to stay out of my business a number of times in the past. I'll grant all that and more but it misses my point from earlier. All our public discourse lately is limited to soundbites and internet memes. There is no meat to it. We, as a collective group, are losing the ability to communicate effectively. It's hindering any kind of progress on just about any front. Maybe not outright stopping progress, but it's sure as hell not making it easier to get anything accomplished.
I took it from what you quoted of my earlier post and the way you responded that you think I'm in favor of gun control. If so then you jumped to a conclusion. I'm in favor of an actual dialog. One where people from all sides try to listen as much as they speak.
