Can You Cook?
#11
MisterTinkles Wrote:In the past few years, I have noticed that less and less people know how to actually cook. No, I am not talking about boiling water and dropping pasta in it, or heating something up in a microwave, I am talking about making something from nothing.

Some people can do very well, while others have no clue what a pan is used for.

For many years, my sister could not even boil water without burning it! Literally! I saw it with my own eyes!!! Yet, she makes some killer Banana Bread! Never could figure that one out.

So, can you cook? If so, what level of a cook are you at? What do you like to cook? Do your friends/family like what you cook? What are some of your best dishes you make?

I can cook, at least in my standards. Today I made chicken (I think it could be called strips of chicken in English), added this mix I made earlier (red onion, garlic, tomatoes and jalapenos) to it and for last I added some thick yogurt to it (sorry, I don't know all the English food terms). Then I filled the pitas I had with it... I have to be creative and cook what I can find from the fridge...

And I also like to bake, my favorite is double chocolate cookies with peanut butter filling Wink

I can cook everything I was taught to cook. I learned a few things beyond was I was taught.

I ain't cooking no gourmet sh*t, just plain old house food.

Of course think about local things from here or uber common stuff like pasta, chiken, fish, whatever.

Don't expect me to make goulash, I wasn't born in Magyar-land. Unless you give me time to learn how.

I'm able to do something and to follow a recipe but I don't like cooking.
But... I'm Italian! The most of the Italian people who I know are good at cooking, and have a real passion, some friends spend part of the freetime cooking.
In my group I'm definitely the worst, LOL, someone is more able with the home-made pasta, someone with the meat, someone with other meals.
And there's some people in my family perfectly able to compete with a chef. I don't know who's Julia Child, but my cousin is definitely superior of her. ;-P

Edward Wrote:I live alone and I never bother to cook. Can't remember the last time I did it. I just take something from the fridge and eat it, or I will heat something in the microwave. Too lazy to stand in front of the stove for hours. And yes, since I never have to cook, I guess I cannot do it too.

Your display pic did an interesting trick!!!!

That was freaky!!!!!
