The lyrics speak very true to me,and even thow I have not got that special someone the song still feels like the core to life to me,and it is very true no one is with us entirely throughout our lives.

Daughter by Pearl Jam will always be my favorite song. It's depressing as hell if you really evaluate what it's about. That's why I love Pearl Jam; they put deep emotion into their music that's tied to real situations, and not just shallow feelings anyone can connect with at first glance. This song just always hits me harder than any of their others.
