Sex being forced upon the young?
#21
On a forum I used to give lots advice on, in 'toddler's issues' a lot - and I mean a near disturbing number, of posts asked how is it possible that my 3-6 year old knows how to masturbate?

The truth is, that children immediately start exploring their bodies as soon as possible. and they fumble around and figure out where all the happy buttons are - and I assure you, most children, upon discovery of their happy button will press that button until the cows come home.

Older children - kindengarden age, well boys and girls play the 'show me yours I'll show you mine' game. No one is teaching that (everyone is doing their best to keep it from happening).... this 'learning' thing is all part of a natural process.

Understand that even before we had interwebs, TVs, etc... children (13-14 year olds) were out having sex - hell in most places they were getting married.

Understand that the sole purpose of every single human being is to survive until they pass on and insure the survival of their DNA. As such, that sex drive thing its pretty strong and even if we went Puritanical Victorian and banned any discussion of sex, I assure you this sort of thing will still be happening.

A lot of it has to do with the internet and the media. The crap they show on there and kids that age and younger see it, and think it's okay. Society does not know how sensative and "spongy" an adolescent's brain is, when it comes to knowledge and taking stuff in.

Ok leading from that then.. Do you think it is right to leave this 12 year old girl with a child to bring up? Should there be something in place that says she shouldn't be allowed to bring up a child?

I don't think people should have their kids taken off them just for the fun of it or for something like age but at the same time.. a 12 year old girl bringing up a baby.. It doesn't sound right. There was a transcript of a call her dad made into the radio station about this and he said how proud he was of her and how she will do great and then led on to how she plans to get married.. She's 12 for god sake how can she plan that?!

Guys...it's only ONE case! It's not that it's happening every day in UK! It's being very naive to think there was no case like that 30 years ago!

It actually works out 4 in 10 girls have underage sex in the UK, making the UK the worst place in Europe for underage sex, and the third worst country in the world for it. They estimate around 20 girls between 12-15 are finding out they are pregnant every day which is quite high.

There more than likely was this going on 30 years ago - but figures show its getting worse even questioning whether the law for legal consent should be made lower.

Sex has become extremely accessible with the widespread use of technology (one of the first images in photography and lithographs since their invention has been a form of pornography) and then there are...

the parents.

The parents who don't supervise their children and honestly don't too much caring about parenting. In the age of technology and advancement, even though there's stronger hold for parental controls then there was back then (say the 80s, 90s), parenting has become very lax.

It's in due part with the fast lane mentality: you grow up (children don't want to be children anymore), be an adult wishing to be a kid again, get a job, be successful by possibly running over your competition, and as Nietzsche puts it "Whoever dies with the most toys wins".

Very sad.

I find clothing is also a big factor into make children grow up way too fast. If you go into any clothing retailer and look at the outfits for children gosh they are more like adults than ever before. You can get push up bra's for 8 year olds..

I'm starting to realize a lot of users on GS are from the UK (which puts me in the "alien" seat).

But not only clothing... it's just kids have much, much less to do even if there's much more out there in the world geared towards children. Kids want to drive cars and be their own boss and make money and go where they want to go. We put less on creativity and imagination and more on individuality (as least, in the States).

Can we blame advertising? Just advertising?

I read the wiki page about children having children. Most cases were from the US, russia and china. Sometimes the grandfather was the father of the child of the 10 y/o. I think the world needs more sex ed., so we can show kids that while porn is fun, it isn't reality.
