Random fact.

CCRox Wrote:I drank an average of two fifths bourbon (often more and loved other liquors too), at least 48 beers and smoked at least an ounce of weed weekly for six straight years. I made, sold and ate LOTS and LOTS of LSD, quaaludes, valium, xanax, every kind of speed there ever was (pink footballs and yellow jackets were favs), snorted and smoked enough crank, coke and heroin to become a certified lost cause. Quitting smoking cigarettes was FAR more difficult for me and took 16 years to accomplish. I have not smoked in 12 years! I am grateful than addiction led me to recovery from all the pain I medicated for so long! Wavey

Sorry to hear about the problems you had in your past, glad to hear you have recovered now Smile

Marky Wrote:Wow how do you even overcome that? Did you have help?

Actually the drug and alcohol use a part of overcoming! It sounded insulting and strange the first time I ever heard someone in a 12-step meeting profess they were grateful for their addiction. I could not reconcile the sick irony in such a statement. Then, the longer I stayed clean and worked on getting healed and well, I came to truly appreciate the sentiment.

I was a victim as a child. I became a survivor through drugs and alcohol. I am a thriver as a result of my recovery. Lastly, and ultimately most important, I get to keep what I got by giving it away! Wavey Xyxthumbs Luvkiss

I also go to this gem: http://www.godlikeproductions.com/ Once you start reading and if you are not a conspiracy theorist you may actually start feeling what I feel in many cases when I read what people say.

I keep going there as a gentle reminder that I can't call people a moron (one bullet is enough for me). I hope its teaching me humility to remain silent....

And patience and all sorts of other nice things thereby keeping me from becoming a monster.

I hope.Xyxthumbs

Thoroughly enjoyed this reply and reference. OMG what a hoot! Talk about perspective and priorities. Of course I've always been impressed with your posts, so it's not really new but an appreciated continuation. You ROCK for GS sir. WaveyLaughRemybussi

Uh, just for clarity...I am recovering and very much appreciate the day-to-day integration of disciplines that are no longer a pain in my ass but an effective, integrated part of how I now think, feel and do each and every day; but, I am not 'recovered' and some days are diamond while some days are stone. Making an effort to point out that distinction between the process of recovery versus the content of having recovered is ESSENTIAL to the success I've come to truly appreciate. It fuels the awe necessary to go day to day without being a pissy bitch. Laugh

In recovery we say, take what you need, leave the rest. In healing we learn that 'doing' and maintaining (not 'having') recovery is the difference between surviving and actually thriving! Wavey
