The chat room used to be pretty active, but most of the people who primarily used it aren't around anymore

I've seen the chat room activity go up and down over the years. I don't go often because of the time lag with UK. As mentioned elsewhere, most UK time there'll be more chat activity. I've seen others use the chit chat box on the main page to inquire of chatroom interest. Maybe you could try that. Also, do you have the GS Live Messenger tool bar at the bottom of the screen?
