Laws mostly vary from state to state(with plenty of federal laws), but in Ohio, you can own pretty much any firearm you want as long as you pass a background check and are 18 or older(21 if you want to buy a handgun or class 3 weapon) and for knives again, If your 18 or older(or have permission from parent/guardian) you can pretty much own any kind of knife you can think of, but there are limits to what you can carry in public for example:
Automatic/switchblade, "gravity" and butterfly knives are illegal to carry
You can't carry any knife with a blade length over 3 1/2 inches
you can't carry fixed blade knives( as far as I understand)
you can't carry a doubled edge/dagger knife.
Those are the most prominent laws, but if your curious to learn more, just ask me.

Yeah, I mostly have fixed blades but I'm hoping to add some new folders to my collection, add a little variety, plus like said I can't exactly walk around with a ka-bar strapped on my belt, so I need a few more that I can actually have on my person.

Lazy, Boring, messy.

My freinds would disagree with me on the second point but the first and last are very true.
