How to calm your cat
#1
I thought this was interesting. I know something similar can be done to horses by twisting their lower lip.

The cat is probaly remembering being lifted by his mother from the same spot and calms down from feeling secure. Or not.

This definitely works. And I came across something else pretty cool. They sell these little dispensers that you plug in and it emits feline pheromones that are meant to calm a cat. And it works! I adopted a cat recently that had been abused and was very fearful. One of the shelter people suggested that I try this thing, and the difference was dramatic.

I tell my cat that his mother still loves him. She wishes he would come back and drink her meal. When my cat has been assured of his mother's love, he keeps pushing his face into my face. I tell my cat that I need him more than his mother does. He gives me a look of love only cats can give.
