Maybe I'm just in the dumps this evening, but I think my problem is that I do a lot of things on impulse... particularly with buying crap I either don't need or really can't afford...like a Dodge Challenger R/T.... I almost regret it, costs twice as much on payments and makes things a bit difficult financially. To make it worse I bought the car between jobs and now I get paid once a month...so its been a challenge.

In hindsight, of course I should have kept the car I had, it was fine and it was a Prius that got 40-60 mpg... I really need to get moved out and away from my parents and with the expensive car I'm stuck with at least for a couple years that's probably not going to happen. I mean I could probably afford it with a roommate, but I never want to put myself in a situation where I can't afford something say if the roommate moves out...the roommate could be a boyfriend too and I certainly haven't had much luck there.

Depending on what your views on life are, plenty of people have the same thoughts.

As for me, I find life to not have any purpose. It's just a mere biophysical process and that's that, so I have none of the usual worries about death, purpose or stuff like that. Blame my usual indifference.

I find most people do have those concerns, though.

I've observed that a certain balance must be kept in order to not feel like this.

1) The imposed structure of life in a particular social setting must be more or less respected, that is, getting a degree, a job and money to live is necessary for feelings accomplishment both personal and expectatory.

2) Finding and ding the things that make you enjoy life. Little or big, simple or intricated. So you won't feel trapped under the weight of obligations which number 1 is so good at generating.

3) Partnership. Humans are mostly, and to different degrees, a social animal and need the company.

Seems I have battled in all three of those. I have managed to get a degree, its nothing special, but I suppose it is one notch above High School. I have gone through all sorts of hobbies, however it seems a lot of the ones I get into are rather expensive. Tried painting, RC Cars, amateur radio, photography (film and digital)...some of them stuck with me while other left me in disgust (RC Cars). Number 3...maybe someday. I always had a hard time making friends in school and thus don't have many these days, people drift away. I'm just not the life of the party, I don't enjoy hanging out with a bunch of people getting drunk and stoned. I enjoy hanging with a couple people at a time.

I had a similar argument about karma. I believe in it, I think if you do good things, good things will come sooner or later. I think we settled that karma really isn't a thing but it is often tied to the choice you do make. If you're a theif, steal stuff, might end up in jail, might end up with a rotten life because no one wants to hire someone with felonies on their background check. While people who give to charity, do nice things, does good work probably will be sucessful in life and is likely to have friends and people to support them when bad things do happen.

But I do ponder about life in general, I think while I may be in a bummed mood, I do still think it is fascinating, but I often dwell on the issues that's eating me at this very moment and not bask in the awe of the universe. Which is one reason I like astronomy...that's another hobby I spent too much money on and never get to do...For me it is fun taking a friend out to look at the stars but no one ever has time, or so they say.
