Do not grieve. Celebrate the life that was and the legacy that she has left. I'm sure that she would have appreciated this poem by Dylan Thomas:

Very sad. I read her books in uni, and watched her recite her new poem at the Clinton inauguration. An inspiring lady with a great literary talent.

She could be very campy and she sometimes scared the living shit out of her students putting them on the spot with demands for emotional expression just to remain in the class, always to bring out the best but often misinterpreted by the immature or naive. She could be intimidating I suppose. I've been told she made potato soup from scratch every time Oprah came to visit. A very eclectic and interesting old soul indeed...
