I have to admit I do not know that much about Lauren, but she does look like she was a hot Hollywood starlet back in the day.

Laura Ann Branigan (July 3, 1957 – August 26, 2004) was an American singer, songwriter and actress. She is best remembered for her 1982 Platinum-certified hit "Gloria" As well as her music, she was also known for her powerful, husky alto singing voice which spanned four octaves.

Her signature song "Gloria" by Umberto Tozzi stayed on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for 36 weeks, at the time a record for a female artist. The song holds a place in the top 100 singles of both 1982 and 1983.

Branigan also contributed songs to notable motion picture and television soundtracks, including the Grammy and Academy Award-winning Flashdance soundtrack (1983), the Ghostbusters soundtrack (1984), and the Baywatch soundtrack (1994).

Branigan died at her home in 2004, aged 47, from a previously undiagnosed cerebral aneurysm.

Laura Branigan logged 7 Top 40 hits during her career, as well as other songs that charted on the dance charts.

The songs above all hit the Top 40. The two below were not Top 40 hits, but dance charts/club hits.

Just learned something interesting about the death of Lauren Bacall. There were 16 names of old Hollywood mentioned in Madonna's Vogue. With the death of Lauren Bacall, all 16 are now gone.

I still can't believe that Robin Williams is no longer with us. Sad

I hated college but one of the few good memories I have of that period was watching Robin on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

My favorite performance of his: One Hour Photo!

My partner told me about this fact. When Madge released Vogue not all of the legends she listed were dead, but now all these years later, Bacall was the last alive. I know that she preferred to be called Betty rather than Lauren (especially by her friends), which was her birth name. And she didn't like being called a legend, which she thought of as a reserved term used only for the dead.

I remember her from many movies, but somehow I can't get her role in The Mirror Has Two Faces with Babs out of my head. Her portrayal in acting roles was always so accurate, almost dead pan in a non-comedic sort of way. Add in more than a touch of sultry.
She will be greatly missed.

"You know you don't have to act with me, Steve. You don't have to say anything, and you don't have to do anything. Not a thing. Oh, maybe just whistle. You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and... blow. "

Wow...I never realized that was him in Jurassic Park! I loved Ghandi...a well deserved Oscar I think. I actually liked his screen version of A Chorus Line but I know it was a very difficult transition from stage to screen....

RIP Mr Attenborough...
