How about when an artist covers their own songs?
These may both be 'new' to you, but give them a listen, and let me know what you think.
Nena was a one-hit wonder in the US with 99 Luftballons/99 Red Balloons. In Europe the group had other hits. This single, "Irgendwie, irgendwo, irgendwann" (English is Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime) , was off their third CD in Europe in 1985.
In 2002 Nena's lead singer (then also going as Nena) celebrated her 20th anniversary in the music business by releasing a CD full of covers of her prior group's material.
This is the version of "Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime" that was on the 2002 CD, now a German/English duet with Kim Wilde, who topped the American charts with "You Keep Me Hanging On".
