Feedback needed What about a Swap Shop in GS?
#11
The one problem I can see is, what sort of guarantee do you have that you will receive the item you've swapped? Apologies for being so suspicious but there are some dishonest people out there who might well say they have something to swap and then not send it.

Maybe, though I am a pack rat and would have trouble parting with my stuff. Would anyone like a ten pound box of old candy wrappers?

Londoner, one guarantee would be that anyone doing bogus swaps could be immediately exposed on GaySpeak. Not much of a threat, eh?

Memechose, have you considered donating stuff to Goodwill or the like?

Good question Londoner. if you and I traded items I'd have no worries about all things going right. No doubt you can spot a nervy pervy as fast as I can. If I make a deal with someone untrustable without asking advice about it... who's fault is it?

Wade Wrote:I think this is just a calculated attempt by memechose to gather addresses so he can drop by without calling ahead... all uncivilized like.

I think this is a conspiracy headed by Wade to stoke my rape instincts so he can sue for child support for some turd he wants to try to pass off as a Poe hoax.

Look up "Poe's law"

Nonsense, Wade! I'm completely willing to give my address to memechose or anyone else who wants it. Thing is that I never have drop in visitors because I live under a pile of discarded truck tires at the city dump and the place is all locked up at night. It's really hard on the social life.

Thats understandable but Think about it Londoner. If I was trading you a victorian wing chair upholstered in hand decorated Lakota Buckskin for a pair of salt and pepper shakers I'd have my rep on the line to make sure it was delivered as promised and you'd be the same about the salt and pepper shakers... It's a part of being involved in GS. None of us would risk being shown out as cheats.

But I'd have trouble dealing with a character with a name like IwannaDie who's made 12 posts over 2 years

You probably understand how it is for me then. I have a personal attachment to my stuff and hate for it to go to strangers, especially straight strangers. A cowboy hat collection that I never wear & use only for decorations, western art, some old non working guns and rifles, bar signs and decorations... and loads of other stuff.

The furniture that I'm going to have to find homes for is all stuff that no one outside of the northern midwest would want or appreciate or pay what I can get locally for it all.

[SIZE="1"].............. (sigh) if I think about this too long I'll get depressed.

Yeah...I do understand. I make a promise to myself every year to get rid of maybe 10% of my personal stuff (so I could get room for more LOL) and it never materializes.

When it is my personal stuff I am more likely to give it away than sell it....

One of our friends is a lady who owns a ranch and she collects and sells strictly Western and Indian stuff. We have dinner with her a lot...if you want me to I could tell her and maybe she has something to trade you would like (she has some really cute goats Smile )
