Now that you mention it Mike you may be right to a limited degree but 1800 bots in 24 hours is over 70 an hour. I'm suspect it's mostly "those noncommittal wishy washy curious people" who think being curious is a valid sexual preference. You know as well as I do there's more of them than there are of us.... and the ratio of members to guests is pretty too danged coincidental to be coincidental... IMO. Right at that magic 5%

So far as I've ever known from comments mods/admins will make from time to time around various forum communities... active, registered users who post in forums anywhere are always a very, very miniscule minority of the total traffic population. It's part of why when people flip out or go overboard about problems in the forum, poor moderation or other "forum world problems", it's rarely an actual worry of site owners or administrators. Forum populations are never really a pulse or representation of how well a site is doing overall.
