There are actually many who are into Archery for fun and sport. It is far from a dead skill. Fletching (arrow making) is considered by some a high art form. There are even people who took up knapping (flint knapping, as in flint arrowheads) just so they can get 'authentic' arrows.

Bow hunting has made a bit of a return in the past decade, with more serious bowsmen taking to it. Bow hunting has its challenges which satisfied the hunting instinct. There is also competition and target practice... It is widely variable in its costs to have as a hobby, many people do it on a shoe string budget, others get a little crazy with it and own massive bow collections.

Chances are rather high that you know others who actually do archery. Archery is one of those sports that most people don't take seriously, so most archers don't go around talking about their love of bows, strings and arrows.

What about hunting? Do they still bow? I guess guns are more preferable now.

I'm into archery (though I've let myself get out of practice, much like target shooting). As for hunting, bow hunting is an option as the elf said. But I do believe the vast majority is done with guns, not only because it's easier and it appears that way but every single hunting course I've heard of (including the one I went to and which is often required to get a hunting permit) doubles as gun safety (the one I went to even had underage teens demonstrate the safe and proper use of a shotgun to pass).
