Longest Posting Streak - Get Your Rainbow On
A Poem For Tom

I chose to be the man I am,
I faced you without shame.
You chose to turn away from me,
you never speak my name
or show, by touch or look or word
emotion or regret.
You walk a rigid, narrow path,
your way is straight and set,
and I would say the fault is yours
and speak of you with scorn,
but time and thought have stilled my tongue
and mended what was torn.
You learned your life in darker days,
in days when silence reigned,
from men who shaped and formed the world
so virtue held unstained,
and by their deeds and with their words
they taught conformity,
so things were not the way they were,
but as they ought to be.

I wonder, do you ever think
of all the things you've lost
by choosing image over love,
and was it worth the cost.

Karma

What goes around must come around,
as each we harvest as we sow,
a truth simplistic but profound
that Fools reject but Wise Men know.

No hand can stay the karmic wheel,
what goes around must come around,
but when abstraction bleeds to real
another Lord of Fools is crowned.

The universe cannot be bound,
by Fools who seek to run the show,
what goes around must come around,
no earthly force can stay the flow.

The cycles hurt, the cycles heal,
until we count the balance found
and karmic laws at last reveal,
what goes around must come around.

Lies

You lied to cover up a wrong,
but lies evolve and multiply
as each is told to firm the last,
with constant need to justify.

You lied in fear of consequence,
and lost your feel for wrong or right,
you wove a curtain of deceit
and pulled it closed against the light.

You lied to save me from distress,
but then the rotted fabric tore.
You lied to soothe and comfort me,
but in the end, you hurt me more.

Pawleys Island

Like weary children, peacefully we slept,
on line dried sheets bleached brilliant by the sun,
awakening as dawn’s light slowly crept
through gauzy drapes…another day begun.

A breeze picked up and set the clouds adrift.
The early morning haze began to lift.

We raced outdoors and laughed in pure delight
as all around us, raucous gulls took flight.

Those days of summer, blessed by sand and sea,
we roamed the Island, fearless then, and free,

and everything, and all the world, was right.
