A bisexual woman told me that many bisexuals can't be monogamous

Oh for some reason I thought you were in your early 50's....

I myself am a bisexual... I would never EVER EVER EVER NOT be monogamous. It just doesn't sit well with me. I briefly dated a man, and didn't look for someone else while we were together. I've been in a relationship now, for nearly two years, with a woman (also bisexual) and neither of us has had any desire to sleep with or be with other people... We are devoted to each other. In fact, I have a difficult time finding people who aren't her to be attractive at all at the moment, male or female, because the emotional connection makes a huge part of the attraction. I love her so much that the thought of even jokingly flirting with other people turns my stomach... I do still find some other people of both sexes attractive, but I would never pursue them.

Monogamy is not dependent on sexuality, and I really hate how often this myth that bisexuals cannot be monogamous comes up. And being bi does not give someone a pass for being biphobic.

People just need to chill the fuck out and stop trying to generalize everyone else. Just because something is true for one person, doesn't mean it is true for the next.

I think bisexuals can be monogamous , she was calling me naive for thinking that way .

You aren't naive at all for thinking this. That woman was generalizing all of us unfairly. I have never wanted to be with any more than one person, and I will not ever cheat on my partner. Some of us bisexuals are perfectly monogamous.

Not that there's anything wrong with knowing and willing polygamy if that's what floats someone's boat.

I'm glad you wrote this , because I told her the same thing the sad thing was another bisexual person said I had no right to say it's biphobic because she is a bisexual and I am not . They also told me I was overreacting and being a bully towards her . Some even tried to hit that I was being biphobic .

From what you've told us, they were the ones being bullies, if anyone, not you.

That doesn't even make one iota of sense. She certainly can be biphobic even if she is bisexual. Just like a person of color can still be racist, etc.

She is just frantically looking for excuses for why she can't keep her legs closed.

I'm bisexual and have been with Gideon for over 6 years now and counting.

Monogamy has nothing to do with sexual orientation. Some people want monogamy... some people don't. *Shrug* It has to do with what the person wants. Straight people, gay people, bi people.... whatever. All of us run into temptation now and then, no matter your orientation.

The only exception to this is the polyamorous. And even they can have a form of monogamy among themselves.
