Walking side by side
With our fear,
Our hope,
Our love,
And our pride,
Two steps forward, no looking back.
Every chance to fall through
Then its one look and the world becomes you

Quite dark, but it never fails to get me quiet for a while.

''And The Snakes Start To Sing"

Don't say I'm better off dead,
'Cause heaven's full and hell won't have me.
Won't you make some room in your bed?
Oh, well you could lock me up in your heart,
And throw away the key.
Won't you take me out of my head?

I'm just a would've been, could've been,
Should've been, never was and never ever will be.
Well, sharpen your teeth.
Tell yourself that it's just business.
Would've been, could've been,
Should've been, never was, and never ever will be.

Worms come out of the woodwork.
Leeches crawl from out of the dirt
Rats come out of the holes they call home,
I fall apart.
And the snakes start to sing.

If you can't soar with the eagles,
Then don't fly with the flock.
Are you still getting high?
Did you catch your own reflection,
In the knife my mother held?
Or the hell in my father's eyes?

If you can't soar with the eagles,
Then don't fly with the flock.
Are you still getting by?
Was I your knight in shining armour?
The apple of your eye?
Or just a step to climb?

Many of the lyrics by the transgender artist Antony Hegarty deal with some uncomfortable, difficult issues.

I was lying in my bed last night staring
At a ceiling full of stars
When it suddenly hit me
I just have to let you know how I feel
We live together in a photograph of time
I look into your eyes
And the seas open up to me
I tell you I love you
And I always will
And I know you can't tell me
I know you can't tell me

So I'm left to pick up
The hints, the little symbols of your devotion
So I'm left to pick up
The hints, the little symbols of your devotion

And I feel your fists
And I know it's out of love
And I feel the whip
And I know it's out of love
And I feel your burning eyes burning holes
Straight through my heart
It's out of love
It's out of love

I accept and I collect upon my body
The memories of your devotion
I accept and I collect upon by body
The memories of your devotion

And I feel your fists
And I know it's out of love
And I feel the whip
And I know it's out of love
And I feel your burning eyes burning holes
Straight through my heart
It's out of love, ooh hoo
It's out of love

Give me a little bit serious love
Give me a little full love
Be full of love

Fists, fists, fists full of love...

Reckless Girl by The Beginerz

I ain't much at cooking and sewing,
But my man is crazy for me.
I spend his money like there's no tomorrow.
I'm a reckless girl, I agree.

My hair needs combing and the house needs cleaning.
I could fix it up if I tried.
I must admit I'm just plain lazy,
But he's always there at my side...

"First Day Of My Life" - Melanie C

So I found a reason to stay alive
Try a little harder see the other side
Talking to myself
Too many sleepless nights
Trying to find a meaning to this stupid life
I don’t want your sympathy
Sometimes I don’t know who to be
Hey what you're looking for
No one has the answer
They just want more
Hey who’s gonna make it right
This could be the first
Day of my life

So I found a reason
To let it go
Tell you that I’m smiling
But I still need to grow
Will I find salvation in the arms of love

Will it stop me searching will it be enough

I don’t want your sympathy
Sometimes I don’t know who to be
Hey what you're looking for
No one has the answer but you just want more
Hey who’s gonna make it right
This could be the first day of my life

The first time to really feel alive
The first time to break the chain
The first time to walk away from pain

Hey what you're looking for
No one has the answer we just want more
Hey who’s gonna make it right
This could be the first day of your life
Hey what you're looking for
No one has the answer they just want more
Hey who’s gonna shine alight?
This could be the first day of my life

When I was young
They took me to the dentist
I had a toothache

From the LP I'm currently listing to. I have no idea why they decided to keep those.

"A man, he's like a rusty wheel on a rusty cart. He sings his song as he rattles along and then he falls apart." - We Sing Hallelujah, by Richard and Linda Thompson. I don't know why I love that line.

I wish I could love you
I wish you would love me
I wish we could be together just for a day
So I can let you go without regrets

Sometimes, I want to push everything back and go out like you
I want to wash down my pain with alcohol, my sadness with laughter
But I don’t

I wish you could be me
I wish I could be you
I wish you could feel it for just a day
Your heart
My heart

I don't remember if I shared this or not, but it certainly might resonate with those of us in the Northeast US in the past few weeks:

"You know I think Christmas was a long red glare
Shot up like a warning, we gave presents without cards
And then the snow, and then the snow came
We were always out shoveling and we dropped to sleep exhausted
Then we wake up, and it's snowing"
Read the rest at: Dar Williams - February Lyrics | MetroLyrics - It so captures for me the fatigue I feel right now, going through the motions in a kind of numb state, waiting for spring.

Funny...I am STILL fighting marriage after 30 years even though I KNOW we are going to be married....and I get the worst cold feet and chicken out ...and then I remembered this song today that I used to love...when it first came out...and I remember now why I am afraid of and hate the institution of marriage....Marriage reminds me of ...DEATH.....

Maybe THIS will help remove my roadblock....I really related to this song alot....

By Carly Simon......

"That's The Way I've Always Heard It Should Be"

My father sits at night with no lights on
His cigarette glows in the dark.
The living room is still;
I walk by, no remark.
I tiptoe past the master bedroom where
My mother reads her magazines.
I hear her call sweet dreams,
But I forgot how to dream.

But you say it's time we moved in together
And raised a family of our own, you and me -
Well, that's the way I've always heard it should be:
You want to marry me, we'll marry.

My friends from college they're all married now;
They have their houses and their lawns.
They have their silent noons,
Tearful nights, angry dawns.
Their children hate them for the things they're not;
They hate themselves for what they are-
And yet they drink, they laugh,
Close the wound, hide the scar.

But you say it's time we moved in together
And raised a family of our own, you and me -
Well, that's the way I've always heard it should be:
You want to marry me, we'll marry.

You say we can keep our love alive
Babe - all I know is what I see -
The couples cling and claw
And drown in love's debris.
You say we'll soar like two birds through the clouds,
But soon you'll cage me on your shelf -
I'll never learn to be just me first
By myself.

Well O.K., it's time we moved in together
And raised a family of our own, you and me -
Well, that's the way I've always heard it should be,
You want to marry me, we'll marry,
We'll marry.

...and another song by Carly Simon where I loved the lyrics.....and it reminded me of what I think of marriage as well...back then...and now...depressing and deadly....and full of lies...

"SLAVE"

Listening for your footsteps
Just waiting like a fool
Burning with a fever
Only you can cool

The clock beside my pillow
Has ticked away the night
Like a heartbeat mocking me
Until the light

Gotta stop these thoughts about you
Gotta learn to live without you
Gotta find some freedom for this weary slave
'Cause I'm hungry for you
And I'm longing for you
And I'm burning for you

I worship your opinions
I imitate your ways
I try to make you grace me
With a word of praise

However much I tell myself
That I'm strong and free and brave
I'm just another woman
Raised to be a slave

Slave, nothing but a slave
Mind of a slave
Body of a slave

I find I gave away the soul
That I wanted you to save
I'm just another woman
Raised to be a slave

hungry for you
And longing for you
Burning for you
And I'm longing for you
burning for you
And I'm yearning for you
Longing for you
