SOOOOO True...That is one of the reasons I watch BBC....
Same with antique and weight loss shows. Americans are overly dramatic and full of shit but on the BBC they are far more realistic...
Americans have a thing about "bigger" and "better" and "more"....

Can you get ebola from watching Fox News?
At least I feel safe. Haven't had any spaghetti at all since the outbreak became known.
I bid NO Trump!

He is uber-cute, and nice style of delivery, even as he "descroybs" the Americans.
American "news" is indeed largely pathetic. However, assuming that the American public was indeed panicked in any significant numbers would be a misread. Just because there are loons blathering on hysterically on the boob tube doesn't mean even the majority of viewers are buying it.
The Worry Channel principle applies. You may know it more familiarly as The Weather Channel. Their job is to broadcast 24/7, not because it is news, but because old people, retired too early, have all day to sit at home and do nothing, and they understand the weather, so that's what they watch. TWC figured out at the get-go that it wasn't enough to give the weather, so they hype it, add chill factors, add heat indices, add footage of long-ago tsunamis. If they hype it enough, the old farts keep tuned in. Tragic.
Same principle applies to the crime and gossip footage. Total travesty to call it news.
