So. Are. You. Ready?????

Two gifts to get. One is a gift card and the other one will just be something silly. Then wrap three or four things and put in a sack to take to Christmas at the roomie's mother's house. No decorations at either place. Generous doses of depression and bipolarity. Wine promised and that will help. The best part will be getting to play with the puppies.

All ready here, though preparation was minimal...Two days off Christmas Eve and Day. Then back to work as usual, or rather worse than usual since everyone's gonna try to get everything through to us at the last minute before policies and benefits change on the 1st, only to be pissed off to find out we're already too swamped and understaffed to move any faster than we already do. Gonna be fabulous Rolleyes

I have been ready for a few weeks, all we did was put up a tree this year, I at one time did a lot of decorating with lights.

Aww. I love wrapping and making it all pretty. There's a slightly compulsive side of my personality at play.

This year we took the opportunity to come out to New York for Christmas as it will be our last one before the kid comes along so until he/she is older to appreciate a Christmas overseas. I'm so excited. It's like being a kid all over again.

Then we are having a late Xmas with the family on Boxing Day (26th December) when we get back to the uk. Not sure why we call it Boxing Day. It's got nothing to do with boxing!!

We hit two malls last night (this is NJ, we have six malls in one town) and it was not as insane as I had feared.

When we got home I made rice pudding trying a new recipe. I think it's going to be really good.

As a non believer and one who doesn't celebrates this particular holiday, I am free from all the fuss and preparations thanks heavens. But for those of you who do, I wish you all the very best. Enjoy.

I had most of my gifts wrapped by last March and I will do most of my shopping for next year by the end of February...same with birthdays...I get the gift thing out of the way well before it is time...

As usual...the problem is I have no idea what is in most of the packages LOL

I completely avoid Christmas Day celebrations/dinners so nothing else to do....

Some years we go to Reno to escape...or go to the movies and out to dinner.....

Christmas Day is PTSD/Bad Memory time so avoiding it is our Christmas Gift to ourselves Smile

In the days when large households had a staff, this was traditionally the day they would receive their gift from their employer, a "Christmas Box". I think until fairly recently most businesses were closed.
