A little tribute to one of the pioneers of New Wave-
Steve Strange, singer of the band Visage, died in his sleep of heart failure while in Egypt. For you younger people, and maybe some a little older, that might not know him or the band, he was part of a group of musicians that emerged in the 80's that were distinguished by their androgyny and sexual ambiguity, people like Boy George, Marilyn, Pete Burns (Dead or Alive), and Marc Almond (Soft Cell). Steve Strange never labeled his orientation, only saying he slept with both men and women. He was one of the creators of the New Romantic part of New Wave/Synthpop that included bands like Culture Club, Japan, Visage, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, and Classix Noveaux. It was part of what replaced music in gay clubs as disco faded out of favor in the 80's.
