And the Republicans went to Iowa instead.
I'm no fan of Obama. I'll leave that can of worms closed.
But to be devils advocate, Republicans are in an impossible spot with things like this. They take heat for not reaching out to various groups, but the few who dare to try have it blow up in their faces.
Some republican candidates have tried to speak to groups in the past and it turns into hostile protests with them being shouted down and booed before they can even open their mouths. Then it becomes a New York Times cover story and something that can be played to death on left leaning news networks.
In all honesty, what would have happened if ANY republican showed up to show support for that historic moment.

politicians seem so ass backwards, this shouldn't be about politics at all. republicans claim to have Christian values but they are so far from it. this should have been about humanities step in a positive direction, I always wonder what Dr. King what think if he were alive today.

My guess is...nothing good!
Wrong.
George W. Bush was there. He was applauded.
This should have been a proud moment for all Americans.
These pictures are amazing. It is easy to forget about when you never lived in that generation, but it is good to be reminded of things like this so they don't repeat themselves.
